MUSICIAN
Tami
is a composer and recording artist, and has released 13
CDs for relaxation, comfort, and stress reduction.
The Healing Journey is a solo harp
CD of Tami Briggs' compositions. The music on this
CD is gently serene—intentionally created
for you to reflect, relax and rejuvenate. This meditative,
musical journey will nurture your spirit and support
your individual healing, as well as collectively
contribute to global healing, peace and harmony.
Introducing Tami Briggs'
compositions, this CD is comprised of three 20-minute
pieces, featuring the harp, flute, and violin. Each
of the three songs was composed after significant
life events: Unity (after
the baptism of Tami's goddaughter), Passages
(after two friends lost their fathers), and Illumination
(after a profound experience playing in the hospital).
This solo harp CD is for deep relaxation
and sleep. Each of the five 10-minute songs starts
slow and continually gets slower and s-l-o-w-e-r.
This is the musical principle of entrainment: our
bodies synchronize with the music's rhythm and gently
move through the following four stages: 1) Pain
Distraction/Focus on the Music, 2) Reflection, 3)
Meditation, and 4) Sleep. This recording is appropriate
for children and adults who want to deeply relax,
or have difficulty relaxing and/or sleeping. It
is best used in a quiet environment when the listener
can focus on the slow beats of the music.
Barb Thune Schommer,
RN and Healing Touch instructor, and Tami Briggs,
Therapeutic Harpist, co-created Reflections:
A Guided Meditation. The combination
of Barb's soothing speaking voice and Tami's original
harp compositions guides you on a contemplative
journey and moves you through a reflective process.
This CD is designed to promote feelings of deep
relaxation and peace, and to facilitate life reflection
and review. The first half of the CD includes gentle
voiceover and healing harp music; the last half
of the CD is solo harp without any speaking.
This CD is a musical
expression of the universe's most powerful force
…love. The harp, flute, and violin trio takes
your heart and soul on a journey exploring love's
beauty, peace, and intimacy. Tami composed the title
song, "Love's Journey."
The harp, flute, and violin trio
performs these beautifully arranged, well-loved
hymns. This album combines familiar melodies with
inspired, instrumental interpretations to bring
you comfort and relaxation.
Reflections
on Grieving is a booklet that gently
describes the grief journey and offers comfort through
the mourning process. Tami Briggs composed the music
so that it correlates with the various stages of
grief mentioned in the book. The solo harp selections
were inspired by having played at the bedside of
hospital and hospice patients and families who are
experiencing grief and loss.
This CD features two
harps and a flute. It is an eclectic mix of classical
and popular songs, relaxing music you can enjoy all
year. A man listening to this album while receiving
a massage said to the massage therapist, "I
feel like I have just been touched by angels."
The therapist told him that was the name of the
album he'd been listening to!
A collection of lullabies,
this CD is a tranquil blend of two harps, flute,
and cello. It makes a nice baby gift and children
of all ages enjoy the soothing, peaceful music.
The harp and violin
music on this CD will help you connect with your
dreams, yearnings, and deep longings. A collection
of classical songs, the tones on Dreaming
are somber, yet heart-warming. The depth and richness
of the music helps you feel your grief (of not having
your dream fulfilled) and gives you hope that your
deep longings can come true.
This solo harp CD is
Tami Briggs' musical response to the events of September
11, 2001. She believes music can play a critical
role in global healing. Specifically, music has
the power to speak to the peacekeeper in each of
us. When this happens, we automatically feel love,
compassion, harmony, and forgiveness, and send these
feelings into the universe. This is deep healing
for the world--the intent of this CD.
This solo harp CD tells
the Christmas story in a relaxing, peaceful way.
All instrumental music, it is certain to bring calm
to you during your holiday preparation. The
Christmas Story is told musically
through all your favorite, traditional Christmas
carols.
The heartfelt sounds
of harp, flute, and violin on this CD will surely
add a touch of grace and serenity to your Christmas
preparation and celebration.
AUTHOR
Grace Notes: Reflections on the Harp and Healing
Grace Notes: Reflections on the Harp and Healing
is a book about Tami Briggs' most profound and deeply
spiritual experiences playing the harp at the hospital
and hospice bedside. Having facilitated and witnessed
hundreds of harp therapy "treatments," Tami's
anecdotal stories illustrate many dramatic accounts of
using harp music as a complementary care modality. An
inspirational journey into the world of comfort care,
the book poignantly tells of the harp's healing properties.
As the population ages and health care changes, Ms. Briggs
offers creative ideas on how the harp and therapeutic
music can change the medical environment, specifically
how we experience illness and death. She weaves her personal
experiences and clinical training together to:
Define harp therapy.
Explain the harp's unique
healing qualities.
Discuss research on the effectiveness of music and its benefits.
Show how music triggers memories and elicits emotional responses.
Suggest musical applications to optimize your well-being.
Describe how the harp can be used to create sacred space, facilitating a healing experience.
Detail how the harp can bring intimacy, depth, and tenderness to the sacred experience of dying.
An enclosed CD highlights the music that is referred to
throughout Grace
Notes.
