Since the first publication of Aha’s national arts and music publication The Creative Line magazine (50,000 readers nationally) in June 1999, the seeds of the Aha! began to take root and flourish throughout California. New England Sound Healing Research Institute (NESHRI) was founded 11/02 as a worldwide network of sound healers with the goals of sharing experience and knowledge, coordinating workshops and educational programs, and conducting informal and formal research into the effects of sound and music on healing and building community.
The Sound Healers Association (SHA) was begun by Jonathan Goldman in February of 1982, and legally established in April 1984 as the New England Sound Healers, organized under section 501 (c) of the International Revenue Code as a tax-exempt educational corporation. In 1988, the name changed to the SHA to reflect the global interest in sound healing. SHA currently operates through Spirit Music and Healing Sounds of Boulder, Colorado.

Sound Healers of Washington is a Seattle based organization that was founded in 1991 to gather people interested in exploring sound as a tool to heal ourselves and each other.
